If you squint real hard at the iPotato pic, you’ll see the first flurry of the year.

Time to put your winter tires on, dust off your skis, stock up on hot chocolate and rye whiskey, whatever it is you do for the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Winter is the best of the seasons! I’m so pumped!

I was worried, but then I remembered that I think you’re Canadian? Judging by my accident history, three  days before Thanksgiving is definitely too late for people in Upstate New York.

I am, in fact, Canadian.

Is winter that thing when I have to occasionally turn off the Ac at home and MAYBE wear a jacket at night while driving with the top down?

I am confused by air temps below 90 degrees before mid October.

I’m from the east but originally , and I still don’t miss seasons. I’ll take my nice overcrowded paradise any day over that mess again. But yeah I say that as a joke mostly, I can certainly appreciate winter and I love snow. It’s just the way that people get angry and depressed in a cold winter that it gets to me.

That really bugs me too. There's a pretty simple solution for seasonal affective disorder... Go outside and enjoy the sun! It really doesn't take that much vitamin D to reverse it. But everyone insists on hiding inside, away from windows all day.

I think my favorite winter day in NJ was an 18 degree day that was absolutely clear and sunny. I gingerly put the top down on the Miata to not break it , cranked up the heat, put on jacket/hat/gloves, and then had an awesome drive around town. At that temp the snow tires actually were fun around turns. I was not cold at all thanks to the nice sunlight. Now I have adjusted to Socal and 50 degrees pretty much feels the same way lol.

This was one of my favourite days. We’d just had a storm go through and dump a foot or so of fluffy snow, then everything cleared right up. I grabbed my snowshoes and went for a solo five mile loop after work the next day, made it back to the J eep just after dark. The air was totally still, and the forest was almost entirely hushed under the blanket of snow, save for a few chickadees going from perch to perch, a raven circling with its lonesome cooing... I want to say the thermometer read somewhere around -30°C when I got home. Not the coldest day, but still one of the clearest evenings that  I managed to get away. The clearest nights are always the coldest, but also always the most serenely beautiful.
